Youth Leadership Program

What is YLP?

Toastmasters International Youth Leadership Program (YLP) is a 9-week program designed to develop the speaking and leadership skills of young people aged 13-17 which runs year round, subject to venue and sponsor availability.

During the program, the following modules are covered:

1. Evaluation of present speaking ability
2. Chairmanship principles
3. Presentation of speeches
4. Impromptu talks
5. Group evaluation
6. Speech organization
7. Practice in listening
8. Use of gestures in speaking
9. Discussion of voice and vocabulary

Toastmasters Youth Leadership Coordinators are responsible for:

✓ Ordering all YLP Supplies

✓ Soliciting a sponsor to pay for the YLP supplies

✓ Liaising with the local Library contact (once the Youth Leadership Chair has provided you with contact details)

✓ Advising the Youth Leadership chair of the start/end dates

✓ Presenting the Youth Leadership Program

✓ Issuing a YLP participant certificate to all participants at the conclusion of the 8-9 week session

How much does it cost?

There is no direct cost to the Youth Leadership Program participants however, the sponsor's cost is $10 per student for the Youth Leadership Handbook, photocopies, Agendas and Certificates that are ordered directly from Toastmasters International.

Volunteering their time and talents for this Community Service Program is a very rewarding experience and counts towards completion of their Advanced Communicator Gold Award.
