Fellow Toastmasters of District 60:

Did you ever have a dream? A wild, crazy, improbable dream?

I have one. I firmly believe that none of us can accomplish anything big alone; it takes team work to do anything important. We know that in Toastmasters. That’s why each and every one of us progresses through every step of our education program as part of a team. When we speak, we have an evaluator on the team to give us feedback. When we take a meeting role, we have a GE for the same purpose.

Team work is key. As Lieutenant-Governor Marketing, I consider everyone in the district to be on my team. As one person, I cannot possibly build our membership alone. That job takes all of us.

Here’s my challenge to you: I want each and every one of you to bring a friend or colleague or family member to Toastmasters. If only 50% of those guests “stick” and become members, just think of the impact that would have on District 60:

• 50% more members than we have now;
• no more struggling clubs;
• more vibrancy and excitement in our clubs, our areas, our divisions and the district because of all the excited new members.

Wow! That would be pretty amazing.

It is said that Toastmasters builds confidence. You have benefited from that increase in your confidence. Couldn't your friends and colleagues benefit too? Have you given them the opportunity? Maybe they are so lacking in confidence they won't even ask to go to toastmasters but eagerly anticipate an invitation from you. Try it!

The other half of my dream is building new clubs. You are a direct link to new club opportunities and with new clubs, we can offer the benefits of Toastmasters to so many additional people. Please watch for those openings and let me know about them. Don't forget, you are part of my team.
